The founders of Manifold Trading and Rug Radio have stated that they were recently victims of SIM-swap attacks.
On December 22, the official Twitter account of Manifold Trading, along with that of its co-founder, Jae Chung, was hijacked. The hacker posted harmful links related to cryptocurrency scams.
Chung said that despite having security measures like an email and password in place, the hack was possible due to a SIM swap.
He reassured me that only the Manifold Trading Twitter account was affected and any critical financial information remained secure. Chung also mentioned that efforts were underway to regain control of the accounts and get them back to normal.
On December 21, Farokh, the anonymous creator of Rug Radio, also experienced a SIM swap scam. However, he informed his followers that the compromised phone number wasn’t associated with his Twitter account.Â
