Solana has canceled several Saga phone orders that were placed after existing inventory ran out as the company faces issues with third-party distributors.
Solana Mobile shared a post and informed that affected customers were notified via email regarding the cancellation of their order and that they would be refunded in the coming days. The company has also canceled suspicious orders from users who sought multiple devices.
“We learned of an inventory management issue with our third-party distributor that resulted in an inaccurate representation of our inventory,” said the company. “Given this, we are unfortunately unable to fulfill orders that were placed after inventory ran out.”
The company said that it only produced 20,000 devices globally, which sold out on December 18, as the demand for Saga surprisingly increased recently as users rushed to claim 30 million BONK tokens airdropped along with the phone.
The rush for Saga was intangible, as the total BONK airdrop value exceeded the actual cost of the phone after BONK surged to record highs.
Following the BONK airdrop, several other projects also announced that they would be airdropping tokens exclusively for Saga owners. This news fueled Saga’s demand even more, and it once sold for $5,000 on eBay, which is nine times higher than its market price.
