The infamous crypto hacking team “Pink Drainer” has been identified as the culprit behind numerous hacks on Discord and Twitter this year. They managed to steal more than $18 million from over 9,000 people.
One of their notable thefts involved taking $4.4 million worth of Chainlink (with the ticker symbol LINK) from a single victim. This individual was deceived into approving an “Increase Approval” function.
Data from the blockchain shows that this victim lost a total of 275,700 LINK tokens, which are now valued at $4.33 million. Shockingly, all this happened within a minute after the victim approved the “Increase Approval” request.
Around 68,925 LINK tokens were moved to a wallet named “PinkDrainer: Wallet 2” on Etherscan. Additionally, 206,775 LINK tokens were transferred to an address that ends with “E70e.”
The blockchain security company, Scam Sniffer, stated that the recent loss was linked to the Pink Drainer scheme. However, it’s still unclear how the affected individual got involved with the fake website.
Scam Sniffer also mentioned that they had identified at least 10 fraudulent Pink Drainer websites within the past day.
ZachXBT, a specialist in blockchain investigations, observed that the money that was stolen has now been converted into Ether (ETH), which is currently valued at $2,354.
