According to the reports, Apple has removed several international cryptocurrency platforms like Binance, Kucoin, and OKX from its App Store.
This move followed a notice from the country’s finance ministry, which criticized nine virtual digital assets (VDAs) for allegedly not following the country’s anti-money laundering rules.
The advisory, issued on December 28, targeted platforms including Binance, Kucoin, Houbi, Kraken, Gate.io, Bittrex, Bitstamp, MEXC Global, and Bitfinex.
These platforms were alleged to be operating unlawfully in India by not registering themselves and neglecting local taxation requirements. Following this, the finance ministry instructed the information technology ministry to block their website URLs.
According to sources familiar with the matter, app stores were given instructions to block these platforms approximately ten days ago.
Apple has not yet provided any official comment on the situation. Interestingly, as of the time this information was made public, these applications remain accessible on Google’s Play Store.
