Injective, a Cosmos-based Layer 1 blockchain, has introduced a significant upgrade called Volan. This update focuses on improving the deflationary nature of INJ (Injective’s native token) by adjusting on-chain inflation parameters.
The key highlight of Volan is the integration of a dedicated software module for real-world assets (RWAs), signaling a strategic move to broaden the platform’s capabilities.
The main objective of the Volan upgrade is to offer a wide range of structured products to both institutional and individual users.
These products include tokenized fiat currency pairs, treasury bills, and exclusive credit products. The emerging tokenized securities market is experiencing significant expansion in its initial phases, demonstrating rapid growth and surpassing a valuation of over $500 million.
An important aspect of the Volan upgrade is the improved integration of the inter-blockchain communication (IBC) protocol within the Injective ecosystem. This enhancement enables smoother interactions between Injective and other chains in the Cosmos network.
Through IBC, Injective aims to simplify cross-chain transactions, allowing advanced order routing and swaps.
The Volan upgrade changes the on-chain inflation settings for INJ, transforming the token into a more deflationary model over time. Additionally, a new oracle has been incorporated, allowing off-chain price information to be seamlessly integrated into the blockchain.
