The Bitcoin Ordinals collection, curated by art auction firm Sotheby’s, is now up for bids.
The auction, named “Natively Digital: An Ordinals Curated Sale,” features nineteen items, including rare Satoshis, creations by the first Bitcoin Ordinals artist, Shroomtoshi, generative art, and a piece related to the Taproot Wizards Bitcoin Ordinals brand. The auction ends at 2:00 p.m. ET on January 22.
“This sale puts a spotlight on the incredible range of creative diversity found within the Bitcoin ecosystem, as Ordinals have seen explosive growth over the past year,” Sotheby’s stated in a press release.
On December 13, Sotheby’s concluded the inaugural auction of Bitcoin Ordinals. Three items from the BitcoinShrooms collection, which is regarded as one of Shroomtoshi’s early Bitcoin Ordinals projects, were up for auction.
Five times greater than the aggregate estimate for the three items, the auction brought in $450,850 at a close, according to a statement from Sotheby’s.
According to an announcement from Sotheby’s head of digital art Michael Bouhanna, “last month’s sale of three BitcoinShrooms was a test case to introduce Ordinals to the auction market.”
