Taproot Wizards, a pioneering force in blockchain innovation, has unveiled its latest creation: the Quantum Cats collection. This unique series of 3,333 cat images, inscribed on the Bitcoin blockchain, marks a significant step in merging art with cryptocurrency technology.
Reviving Bitcoin’s Coding Roots
Udi Wertheimer, co-founder of Taproot Wizards, explains the inspiration behind Quantum Cats. “It’s a tribute to ‘OP_CAT,’ an early Bitcoin operation code by Satoshi Nakamoto, now disabled.”
This historical nod paves the way for advanced features like smart contracts on Bitcoin, inspiring the collection’s quantum theme.
Creating this collection cost a substantial $66,000, using an innovative Evolving Inscriptions technique. “Each cat will evolve, mirroring the development of the OP_CAT proposal,” says Wertheimer.
This process ensures each image changes in a predetermined manner, independent of external influences.
The project’s ambition extends beyond mere creation. The images used an impressive 10MB of encrypted on-chain data, a notable amount considering Bitcoin’s 1MB block capacity. “The encryption keeps the future evolutions a mystery,” Wertheimer adds.
The series’ standout piece, the “Genesis Cat” by digital artist FAR, is currently featured in a Sotheby’s auction, highlighting the collection’s artistic and technological significance.
With their recent $7.5 million funding boost, Taproot Wizards is firmly set on charting a new course for Bitcoin, showcasing a blend of creativity and technological prowess in the crypto realm.
