Vivek Ramaswamy, a Republican running for president, is no longer in the contest. He was one of the few who had a specific crypto plan and received some support from CEOs in the field.
Late on Monday, Ramaswamy declared that he was suspending his campaign in light of the Iowa caucus results. Ramaswamy praised former President Donald Trump and thanked his supporters in his concession speech.
He declared, “Tonight I am suspending my campaign and endorsing Donald J. Trump and will do everything I can to make sure he is the next U.S. President. I am enormously proud of this team, this movement, and our country.”
Ramaswamy prioritized recognizing most cryptocurrencies as commodities, protecting software developers and unhosted digital wallets, and drastically decreasing the SEC’s involvement in the crypto industry.
Over the past year, Ramaswamy has gained some support from proponents of cryptocurrency, such as Ryan Selkis, the CEO of Messari.
After Ramaswamy withdrew from the race, Selkis wrote on X, “Vivek is now the most influential libertarian in the country. And he’s pro-crypto. Trump knows he’s an asset.”
