The eagerly anticipated Dencun upgrade for Ethereum went live on the Goerli testnet earlier on Wednesday. However, it was not completed in the allotted amount of time.
Dencun appeared to have split after failing to conclude as anticipated, despite being released on Goerli on Wednesday at 6:32 UTC, according to a live stream on YouTube.
The team waits for time to properly assess the improvement. But even so, one of the engineers had foreseen difficulties before the update.
“It will take time to accurately evaluate the status. Therefore, before someone claims that the Goerli hard fork failed and Deneb is delayed, we should allow time for a proper analysis,” Terence, an Ethereum engineer, stated.
The price of Ethereum (ETH) is not significantly affected by the Dencun update. According to the screenshot below, ETH is currently trading at $2,545, up 0.83% over the previous day.
By the end of January, the team intends to deploy the Dencun update on the Sepolia testnet. It has set February 7 for the upgrade on the Holesky testnet in the interim. The Dencun mainnet upgrade is currently anticipated to be completed by the end of the first quarter.
