A Layer 2 modular blockchain, Manta Network faced a disruptive DDoS attack during its Token Generation Event (TGE), flooding the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) nodes with over 135 million fake requests precisely at the event’s start.
This aggressive assault severely disrupted communication between apps and the blockchain. Despite the turmoil, the blockchain remains secure, production is uninterrupted, and funds are safely guarded.
In response, the Manta team is diligently implementing additional DDoS mitigation measures and collaborating with partners to navigate this prolonged and intensified assault.
The community, originally anticipating a celebratory day, is now grappling with slow or limited access to Manta’s apps, including New Paradigm and Into the Blue.
The team expresses gratitude for the community’s support during this challenging time, acknowledging the mixed feelings within the user base.
“Today was supposed to be a time for celebration with the community. The Manta Network team has been working tirelessly over the past 3 years, with 60 contributors worldwide sacrificing their time, holidays, weekends, and sleep to make this project a reality.”
The attack coincided with the anticipation of the MANTA token airdrop on Jan. 18, 2024. Despite setbacks, Manta Network has achieved significant milestones, including the listing of its MANTA token on Binance Launchpool, marking it as the 44th project on the platform.
Despite the disruptive DDoS attack, Manta Network’s resilience, commitment, and community support reflect a determined effort to overcome challenges and continue building for a brighter future.
