In an attempt to cause a traffic jam in the system of the digital wallet Phantom, one of the favorite Solana wallets used by cryptocurrency hacks attempted to populate it with phishing links.
Though the attackers failed to steal available funds, this assault shows evident that some conventional security problems would remain unsolved in any blockchain system under DeFi domain.
Solana was attacked in the past and in 2021 witnessed an exploit ravaging Wormhole Token bridge to cost $32 million. In January 2022, there were also the same suspicions on Solana DDoS attack but by later it was already proved to be a jam problem.
The attack on Phantom goes to show that even projects that are somewhat well established in the case of DeFi are not greatly safe from such attacks. While the services give cryptocurrency risk awareness and take precautions to protect their funds using strong passwords among other measures.
