Gnosis announced the launch of its new crypto debit card, Gnosis Pay, in a post on Feb 17. The card allows users to easily spend their cryptocurrency holdings at any of the over 80 million Visa merchants globally, with no fees.
This launch comes after Gnosis’ successful debut of the card in Europe last year. Now its expansion into the U.S. signals the company’s commitment to connecting decentralized finance (DeFi) with mainstream finance.
In an interview, Gnosis co-founder Dr. Friederike Ernst said the card helps break down barriers between crypto assets and real-world use cases. It allows digital currencies to seamlessly transition into everyday transactions, ushering in a new era of financial freedom and versatility.
Gnosis aims to launch the card in several new markets including Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, and Hong Kong. The goal is to reach crypto users and non-users alike to cement a future where digital assets are as easily spent as fiat currencies.
By providing this payment solution and utility for its GNO token, Gnosis seeks to boost blockchain’s scalability. Collaborations with fintech innovators like Monerium further its mission to enable a decentralized and open financial system.
