Mumbai, known as India’s financial hub, introduced a metaverse initiative aimed at showcasing recently launched and upcoming large-scale infrastructure projects across the city.
The Mumbai Megapolis Metaverse was unveiled as an open-access platform, enabling users to navigate through different urban development endeavors in Mumbai and nearby areas using 3D visuals and virtual reality technology.
Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, announced this initiative on February 19 on Twitter and invited worldwide users to witness the “transformation.”
The Mumbai Megapolis Metaverse enables citizens to virtually track the advancement of major projects that directly affect their daily routines. Accessible through the website or dedicated apps on the Google and Apple app stores, it provides a means for convenient monitoring.
Mumbai recently opened roads constructed above the Arabian Sea to alleviate traffic congestion, enhance connectivity, and advocate for cleaner air. Additionally, the city has initiated various infrastructure ventures, such as underground and undersea tunnels, to facilitate intra-city transportation.
