Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss have contributed $4.9 million to the Fairshake Super Political Action Committee (PAC), aiming to support political candidates favorable to cryptocurrency in the upcoming U.S. election.
According to recent filings with the US Federal Election Committee (FEC) and Fairshake, each twin donated $2.45 million to the super PAC. Fairshake’s latest disclosure reveals a substantial cash reserve of $72.8 million.
Among the significant contributors to Fairshake this year are Kraken Crypto Exchange’s parent company, Payward Inc., which gave $750,000 on January 12, and Electric Capital Partners, which donated $500,000 on January 26.
Other contributors to the crypto super PAC in recent times include Blockchain Capital, a venture capital firm that donated $100,000 in January.
Fairshake characterizes its mission as backing candidates dedicated to positioning the United States as the primary hub for innovators constructing the forthcoming era of the internet.
The Super PAC, backed by significant contributions from venture capitalists like Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, as well as companies such as Coinbase Global Inc. and Ripple Labs, garnered an additional $6.3 million in January, as per its most recent disclosures to the Federal Election Commission.
