Shrapnel, a blockchain-powered shooting game, has uncovered numerous instances of users attempting to gain an unfair advantage during matches.
Two prohibited strategies, teaming and account sharing, were identified during an early access event, where several Web3 gamers collaborated to manipulate queues and target solo players, impacting fair competition.
Moreover, users were found engaging in account sharing by accessing the same player account from multiple devices, indicating an unfair advantage gained through collaboration.
Shrapnel reassured its player base that it has implemented detection systems to identify these anomalies, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards violations of its terms. Any players found breaching these terms will face removal from the current leaderboard and potential permanent bans.
They urged players to report any abuse as the game gears up for its full launch. “It’s essential that we identify and rectify all issues before the game transitions to fully live status, especially as players begin extracting with NFTs and other digital assets.”
However, a member of the community argued that this move “penalizes” guilds and communities that enjoy team play. In response to this criticism, Shrapnel clarified that only users caught unfairly coordinating to rise on the leaderboard would be removed, not those playing with their friends.
