Speaking at the Web Summit Qatar 2024 conference on Monday, popular comedian and host Trevor Noah said his “biggest mistake” was not investing in Bitcoin when prices were extremely low.
Noah lamented not taking the time to understand cryptocurrencies earlier, when Bitcoin cost almost nothing. He said: “Not buying Bitcoin early was the ‘biggest mistake I’ve ever made.'”
The entertainer’s comments come as Bitcoin hit $56,700 on February 27, with its market cap exceeding $1 trillion. While still 18.5% below its all-time high, Bitcoin has seen steady investment inflows into crypto ETFs and growing hype around its upcoming “halving” event.Â
In 2021 on The Daily Show, Noah explained NFTs to his viewers: “Essentially, what you’re buying with an NFT is a long digital receipt that has your transaction along with every transaction that has ever happened.”
Noah was announced as a featured speaker at the Web Summit Qatar 2024 earlier this week. The event runs from February 26–29 in Doha.
The rising comic star is well known for hosting The Daily Show and his stand-up specials. His regret over missing out on Bitcoin’s early days highlights the mainstream interest in crypto as asset prices surge.
