Trust Machines, Tucows, and Hiro Systems are now working together. The three firms have recently launched a joint venture by the name Orange Domains, which will be working to connect the traditional Domain Name System (DNS) with Web3 digital identities.
This new venture will work on expanding the functionality of the Bitcoin Name System (BNS) with the help of Decentralized applications(dApps) and develop new top-level domain (TLD) services. All this development will allow users to successfully manage websites, emails, and other online activities from a single domain name on the blockchain.
Trust Machines is going to lead Orange Domains’ development and go-to-market plans, Hiro Systems will offer domain expertise on creating Bitcoin smart contracts and digital assets, and Tucows will contribute its DNS and web registry experience.
“Orange Domains is going to set a critical industry standard for how domain names, identity, and Web3 coincide,” said Dave Woroch, CEO of Tucows Domains.
Orange Domains is one of many Web3 Bitcoin applications designed to expand the utility of the Bitcoin network. The BNS namespace is built on Bitcoin and allows users to purchase a `.btc` domain name.
“Up until recently, the crypto industry has confused the narrative around Web3 digital identity services, which has hindered progress and expansion to new audiences,” said Don Ruiz, General Manager for Orange Domains.
