Vitalik Buterin, the co-creator of Ethereum cryptocurrency, has caught people’s attention after shifting around large amounts of Ethereum from his personal crypto wallet.
According to blockchain watchers PeckShieldAlert, Buterin transferred 30 Ethereum to Railgun and swapped 27.63 Ethereum for 100,000 USDC coins.
With Ethereum currently valued at around $1,800 per coin, these transactions are worth millions of dollars. However, Buterin has said in the past that movements from his wallet don’t always mean he is personally investing or trading.
The Ethereum founder has used his crypto riches for charitable donations, funding blockchain projects, and other good causes.
A major example is when Buterin donated $1 billion worth of Shiba Inu tokens to India’s Covid-19 relief efforts in 2021. He has also supported platforms like Gitcoin that provide funding for open-source blockchain developers.
This latest wallet activity saw some of Buterin’s Ethereum sent to the Ethereum base layer, which is the core part of the network that processes transactions and smart contracts. The crypto mastermind could be simply reallocating funds, though traders will watch closely for price impacts.
