The Palm Collective, the Web3 artists collective that enables creators, brands, and fans to self-organize, has announced the launch of the Obscura Community, a new platform that’s dedicated to empowering artists in the Web3 ecosystem. To celebrate the community’s birth and women’s month, the collective is extending an invitation to artists and designers regardless of gender identity to participate in a showcase initiative intended to promote a more inclusive society.
Women’s month is an annual event to remind everyone of the achievements of women throughout the years in our culture and society, to that end, it’s offering artists an exclusive opportunity to participate in its “Call x Digital Art: Egalitarian Utopia” initiative. The aim is to harness the power of Palm Collective’s community to demonstrate its unique visions of an egalitarian utopia and help shape a more inclusive and harmonious society through the medium of art.
Kicking off on March 11, the Call x Digital Art: Egalitarian Utopia is open to any artist and there are some tempting rewards on offer for the most impressive contributions, with the Palm Foundation set to grant $1,000 to the artists who achieve the most votes, and display their work in a window display on Broadway Avenue in New York on April 1.
The top 15 to 20 curated artists by the curatorial committee, comprised of Empress Trash (@Empresstrash) Dawnia AKA (@letsglitchit) ObscuraDAO (@ObscuraDAO) and UnknownCollector (@unknowncollector), will also be invited to showcase their submissions at an immersive wall to ceiling display at Lume Studios NYC during this year’s Palm Collective NFTNYC event, while runners up will be able to claim Palm Collective Proofs.
To enter the contest, creators must connect a crypto wallet and create a Palm ID, then mint their art as an NFT on the Palm network before submitting it before the deadline of March 22.
Only one submission per artist is allowed, and their artwork must be original and not previously minted anywhere else, it must also be minted on the Palm Network. Entrants must ensure they follow the Palm Collective’s terms and conditions and must be ready to provide a high-definition version of their work for projection in case it’s selected. Call x Digital Art: Egalitarian Utopia is open to every kind of digital medium, including photo, video, music, 3D, and AI, though submissions using AI must be disclosed.
The submissions period lasts from March 11 to 4 p.m. EST on March 22, and will be followed by the curation period, which runs from March 23 to March 25. Collective voting will open at 7 a.m. EST on March 26 and run until 4 p.m. EST on March 28. The lucky winners’ artworks will be publicly displayed at LUME Studios NTY for just one day during the Egalitarian Utopia Closing Party, from 7.00 p.m to 12 a.m. on April 1.
