Canadian rapper and investor Drake shared a clip from an interview on CNBC’s Squawk Box with his 146 million followers on his Instagram handle.
A clip, posted now by such an account as “bitcoin_memes_daily” with an explanation “Michael Saylor on Bitcoin,” features the MicroStrategy CEO explaining how Bitcoin is different from gold and each fiat currency because it is not used as a means of payment of goods and services but rather a store of value.
In the interview, Saylor stated that Bitcoin would “eat” gold as it is the superior asset, referring to its potential to surpass gold as a store of value.
Drake, whose Instagram handle is “champagnepapi,” reshared the clip, potentially exposing millions of his followers to Saylor’s bullish stance on Bitcoin.
While other celebrities have endorsed cryptocurrency companies like FTX and Crypto.com, Drake appears to be focused on the number one digital asset by market capitalization, Bitcoin.
The Grammy-winning rapper has been active in the crypto world for some time, and he signed up with the crypto gambling platform Stake. Lastly, at the beginning of 2022, he chose to bet on the upcoming Super Bowl again using Bitcoin.
It is striking that Drake chose to air Saylor’s interview, which is the main factor behind the growing broader interest and influence of Bitcoin as well as the perception of it as an alternative asset or a valuable store of wealth.
