To achieve a prominent position within the fast-growing Web3 gaming segment, Arbitrum, a layer-2 blockchain network, has just introduced the ambitious Gaming Catalyst Program (GCP). This announcement was made public on March 12 via a post.
“We are asking the DAO to earmark 200m ARB over a two-year period to bolster the gaming ecosystem on Arbitrum and establish the network as the top choice for game builders across the landscape. The GCP is meant to serve as a catalyst, not a comprehensive program, with a focus on onboarding and supporting high-quality builders. After the roll-out of the GCP, the aim is to mature into a longer-term gaming program with a more comprehensive approach to game ecosystem growth.”
The post stated:
This model not only gives out the innovative $426 million ARB tokens (200 million) but also deploys them to excite game creation and execute the desired Web3 games on the Arbitrum chain.
The core task is to ensure that Arbitrum becomes a leading platform for Web3 gaming artists and developers. The program gives high priority to covering the requirements of logistical support, essential skills, and tools during the initial phase of onboarding to ensure successful engagement of the best developers. This leads to a conducive atmosphere that disseminates the infusion of new talent into this world of Arbitrum.
As the initial effort is set on bringing in the developers, the GCP understands its long-term ecosystem sustainability. The program is designed to develop into a comprehensive project that guarantees long-term sustainability and a growing poise of Arbitrum gaming. This means the creation of a concerted space where developers can grow, function collaboratively, and ultimately, contribute to the network’s success.
These reserves will subsequently be strategically deployed to keep things running smoothly. A large chunk of the fund will be allocated for co-investing and promoting teams that are working on developing novel games as well as brand-new concepts. Out of the budget, part of it (40m ARB) will be utilized to fund initiatives that will build important tools and infrastructure. These measures mean that the essential building blocks will be supplied to operate a fully functional Web3 gaming ecosystem on Arbitrum.
The exact Accelerator fund raise event is getting close, while the Arbitrum tokens will be unlocked very soon. The network is going to release 673.5 million ARB tokens (which are equivalent to $1.34 billion) to its team and advisors on March 16, 2024.
This token distribution event further underscores Arbitrum’s commitment to investing in the long-term viability of the network and its aspirations within the Web3 gaming landscape.
