BNB Chain has introduced a rollup service solution that allows projects to build layer-2 blockchains on its network. Announced on March 14, the rollup-as-a-service (RaaS) offering aims to provide projects with the necessary infrastructure to deploy cost-effective dedicated rollups on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC).
The RaaS solution will enable decentralized application (dapp) projects to access the technology required to build layer-2 networks on the BNB Chain ecosystem, expanding its reach and capabilities. This includes no-code deployment options and streamlines the process for developers.
BSC is currently holding the third position with its $6.1 billion in TVL; the two top positions are emotionally held by Ethereum, with a TVL value of $56.7 billion, and Tron’s value of $10.5 billion.
The BNB Chain developers later reiterated that the layer-2 networks built via this RaaS solution would depend on the mainnet used to construct the BNB Smart Chain, the underlying layer-1 blockchain and governance chain inside the BNB Chain ecosystem.
Highlighting the potential of the new service, the BNB Chain Core Development Team stated, “By combining the power of RaaS and the interconnectivity capabilities of our ecosystem, developers will have a comprehensive toolkit to build efficient and scalable layer-2s on BSC.”
The BNB Chain ecosystem consists of five networks: BSC, a Layer 1 blockchain compatible with Ethereum; existing Layer 2 solutions opBNB and zkBNB; the data storage network BNB Greenfield; and the BNB Beacon Chain, which will transition its functions to BSC.
