On Wednesday, Craig Wright’s team began presenting their closing arguments, countering the fraud accusations made by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance in a trial aiming to determine Wright’s identity as Satoshi Nakamoto, the alleged Bitcoin creator.
Wright’s lawyer, Anthony Grabiner, responded to COPA’s claim that Wright had corrupted private signing sessions to establish his legitimacy as the creator of Bitcoin by pointing out that no evidence had been provided.
Additionally, he contended that because of his affiliation with COPA, witness Patrick Madden’s testimony was inadmissible.
In court, Madden testified that numerous Wright reliance documents had been changed “often with the apparent purpose of supporting his claims,”.
Later on, Grabiner clarified that Wright had not claimed that his reliance documents had never been altered in his defense.
In his closing remarks on Tuesday, COPA’s attorney stated that it is “beyond doubt” that Wright is not Satoshi based on the evidence presented throughout the trial. The representatives of COPA also stated that they intend to request that British authorities look into whether the computer scientist lied to the jury during his trial.
The case’s outcome may impact ongoing legal actions taken against cryptocurrency exchanges and developers. On Thursday, Wright’s attorneys will finish up their closing remarks.
