Dabba, a blockchain-based company that seeks to connect the disconnected through a revolutionary decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN) network, announced on Friday that it would begin its second season of operations to speed up internet access in India.
The decentralized wireless initiative, which had its initial campaign successful earlier in the year, plans to roll out over 100,000 Dabba Lite devices nationwide.
Dabba provided Indian citizens with incredibly fast and incredibly affordable decentralized internet connectivity throughout the nation during the first season by quickly deploying over 1,000 Dabba Lite test units.
The current campaign seeks to utilize its decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) to link over 10 times as many individuals as it did during its initial run.
The most recent initiative seeks to provide affordable, easily accessible, and quick internet services via decentralized routers to more than 50% of the nation’s disconnected population. Dabba plans to establish a network of Local Cable operators (LCOs) and distribute its patented, low-cost networking devices throughout India through its DePIN.
Arul Murugan, Managing Partner of Borderless Capital, one of the Dabba investment businesses, said, “With more than 1.4 billion people and the limitation to expand the fixed broadband connectivity, India represents the largest market for decentralised wireless and WiFi networks, and Dabba is strategically positioned to become a market leader within this space.”
The 100,000 Dabba Lite devices will be available for sale to hotspot owners, who will have a choice from 150,000 LCOs, who will help them scale internet connectivity efficiently across the rural and suburban areas in India.
Thereafter, participants can earn Dabba token rewards according to the quantity of data consumed by hotspot users and have committed to installing hotspots only in locations where customers have shown a willingness to pay for WiFi connectivity.
India’s need for data has increased dramatically over the last five years; Dabba’s arrival will assist balance the supply and provide broadband access at a much-reduced cost.
