Chinese scientists have made an artificial intelligence tool that could make solar energy way better. According to the report, this smart tool can find the best spots to put up double-sided solar panels, helping these panels make more electricity.
Double-sided solar panels are great. They can catch sunlight from both the front and back sides. But finding the perfect places to set up these special panels has been hard – until now.
The scientists taught their smart tool using sun data and weather info from over 2,500 stations across China. This tool can now accurately predict how much direct and indirect sunlight hits any given place. With this power, it can guide where to ideally put double-sided solar panels.
According to the researchers, areas like the eastern Tibetan Plateau and the Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang are prime spots for these double-sided solar setups. These regions get loads of direct sunlight while also getting good amounts of scattered, indirect sunlight – perfect for double-sided panels.
As the world’s top maker of solar panels, this clever breakthrough could give China a massive renewable energy boost. By making the most of double-sided panels, the country can take a huge leap towards a greener future.
