Two executives from Binance, Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla, have separately filed legal actions against Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu and the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for violating their basic rights.
Gambaryan, who had been apprehended beside Anjarwalla, demands back his passport and freedom, claiming a violation of constitutional laws. Anjarwalla, who had recently escaped police custody, filed a similar lawsuit.
The motion brought by Gambaryan through counsel Avgust Alyu is aimed at his release, passport return, and injunction against further imprisonment. In addition, both were charged with unlawful detainment with Nigerian authorities after a meeting with Binance about operations on the platform.
On the day of the hearing, the respondents failed to appear, causing a new postponement. Anjarwalla’s lawyer left the case, possibly because they disappeared for the same reason. Judge Iyang Egwo ordered those 2 cases to be postponed to the 8th of April for further mention.
