Online messaging app Telegram has introduced a new feature allowing users to buy advertisements within the platform using Toncoin. This update is part of their effort to help users monetize their channels, with 50% of ad revenue going to channel owners.
Users can now promote their channels by spending a small amount of Toncoins and selecting the specific channels for their ads. Channel owners can withdraw their earnings without any fees, and this withdrawal service will soon be available on Telegram’s Fragment exchange.
Telegram chose the TON Blockchain due to its low fees, fast transaction speeds, and high transaction capacity, boasting a record of 100,000 transactions per second in recent tests.
CEO Pavel Durov hinted at this update earlier, emphasizing that while Telegram channels receive over 1 trillion views monthly, only 10% have monetized with ads so far.
The integration of Toncoin for in-platform advertising on Telegram is a significant step towards empowering content creators and enhancing user monetization opportunities.
