Microsoft is testing an AI chatbot for Xbox support aimed at helping players with queries using artificial intelligence. Dubbed the “Xbox Support Virtual Agent,” this conversational AI assistant aims to streamline the support experience by leveraging natural language processing and Microsoft’s existing Xbox support documentation.
The chatbot is connected to Microsoft’s knowledge base for the Xbox network and ecosystem, enabling it to respond to questions and even process game refunds through the company’s support website. Users can interact with the virtual agent using voice or text commands.
While currently in an internal testing phase, Microsoft has recently expanded the testing pool, indicating that the AI-powered support assistant could eventually be made available to all Xbox customers.
This initiative aligns with Microsoft’s broader strategy to integrate AI features and tools across its gaming platform and developer resources. Microsoft is researching AI art, game testing, and NPC creation.
Microsoft is exploring AI-driven assistants for safety and moderation roles, including content moderation on Xbox. This move reflects the company’s dedication to improving gaming through innovative solutions like AI, which can streamline support, boost content creation, and promote a safer gaming environment.
