MetalCore, the web3 open-world shooting game, has become the first playable title on Immutable zkEVM. The game entered its second closed beta period from April 9 to April 22, limiting player numbers as per an official release.Â
Studio 369 CEO Matt Candler stated MetalCore’s first beta revealed significant player interest, with the top user completing over 800 missions and 13,000 kills. Over 40% of users in the second beta were new to the game.
MetalCore is a free-to-play game set in a future where factions battle for resources in space. Players choose a faction, playing against others or the environment. While web3 integration is optional, the MCG cryptocurrency powers in-game economies where users can earn MCG and NFTs. A separate “Marks” currency is earned through contracts, quests, and guilds.
Following the current closed beta, MetalCore is slated for an open beta release by late 2024, available on PC via the Epic Games Store alongside popular titles like Fortnite. Immutable zkEVM, which supports smart contracts, launched its mainnet in early access this year. It is distinct from Immutable X, which does not offer smart contract functionality.
