Coinbase was recognized by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) for helping law enforcement to fight against financial crimes. The recommendation was given via a post by Paul Grewal, Coinbase’s Chief Legal Officer, praising the exchange for its particular service to the reduction of financial crimes.
FinCEN praised Coinbase’s compliance with regulations, noting its significant role in one of seven major crime cases, which led to the FinCEN Director’s Law Enforcement Award. The sentencing in this particular case exemplifies that of the key players in the crypto space, such as Coinbase, working with the banking and financial industry in the BSA reporting system to escalate the successful indictments.
The authority applauded financial institutions for their duty to regulatory rules, telling them that transmitting such information helps in preventing crimes within sectors. Grewal stressed once more Coinbase’s commitment to a regulatory framework and expulsion of various crooks from this industry.
Despite recent legal disputes with the SEC, Coinbase continues to advocate for transparent standards and collaboration with officials to push for more sensible regulation in the sector.
