The U.S. government has emerged as the largest holder of Bitcoin among global states, according to a new report by Arkham. The data shows that the U.S. government currently holds an astounding 212,847 BTC, valued at around $15 billion at current prices.
The United Kingdom and Germany are also among the top crypto-owning countries, holding 61,245 BTC and 49,858 BTC, respectively. In addition to Bitcoin, the U.S. government also owns significant amounts of Ethereum, stablecoins, and other cryptocurrencies, totaling over $200 million in digital asset holdings.
This unexpected development highlights the growing interest and involvement of governments in the crypto space, challenging the narrative of Bitcoin and other digital assets as solely a retail-driven market.
