Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, founders of Gemini, are injecting $4.5 million worth of Bitcoin into Real Bedford FC, joining forces with Peter McCormack, known for his podcast “What Bitcoin Did,” who has been steering Real Bedford towards the Premier League since he took over in 2021.
Tyler Winklevoss said, “We share in Peter’s deep conviction in bitcoin and its ability to supercharge RBFC’s quest to make it into the Premier League.”
The investment will fund various initiatives, including a Bitcoin treasury for long-term goals, a new training center, a football academy to nurture local talent, and continued support for girls’ and youth football.
Additionally, it will boost the club’s hardship fund, ensuring that financial constraints don’t hinder kids from playing football in Bedford.
Real Bedford has seen impressive growth under McCormack’s leadership, climbing from the 10th to the 9th tier in their first season and now eyeing a back-to-back promotion to the 8th. With a shared belief in Bitcoin’s potential, the trio aims to turbocharge the club’s journey to the top.
Real Bedford FC embodies the inclusive spirit of Bitcoin by developing local talent, fostering community engagement, and expanding opportunities for football enthusiasts in Bedford.
Cameron Winklevoss commended McCormack’s progress and vision, emphasizing their investment in not just a football club but a dream to bring Premier League football to Bedford.
Peter McCormack commented, “The demands of a fast-growing club are significant, and the backing from Tyler and Cameron will allow us to continue investing in Bedford and the local community.”
