The Ore project, which is well known for its token mined similarly to Bitcoin, has declared to cease all mining operations starting today as a reaction to increased congestion on the Solana network. The choice followed long hours of automated mining since the launch of Ore, which increased the congestion problems that Solana was already experiencing.
Solana’s infrastructure got overloaded primarily because of the huge surge in activity, especially the intense mining of new cryptocurrencies. This overload was worsened by the high transaction volumes from bots and newly launched meme coins, leading to network congestion. Solana responded with stabilizing updates aimed at dealing with congestion issues.
As @HardhatChad shared in the community newsletter on Ore’s Official Twitter account, they’re pausing to give the network a breather and focus on improving version 2. They plan to enhance the contract design for mining during this time. The community noticed a decrease in network traffic, giving Solana some time to react to its congestion issues.
