Longtime top OKX executives Tim Byun, who oversaw worldwide government relations at the second-largest cryptocurrency exchange globally, and Head of Product Wei Lan both abruptly left the company, according to those familiar with the case.
Byun served as CEO of Okcoin, the exchange’s U.S. subsidiary, for two years, from 2018 to 2020, before accepting the government relations post.
An individual with knowledge of the matter stated that Wei Lan was in charge of most trading desk operations at OKX.
The exchange group is moving away from having a distinct U.S. brand and is instead combining its components under the single OKX brand. Patrick Donegan, the chief of OKX Global Compliance, left in January after only six months, among other recent departures.
