The decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) behind the “Own The Doge” group announced that they have acquired the copyright to Shiba Inu image, an Ethereum-based altcoin behind the popular Doge meme and the Dogecoin cryptocurrency symbol.
The Shiba Inu’s name is Kabosu, and the pup turned into an internet celebrity in 2010 when her owner Atsuko Sato posted Kabosu’s photo online. From the confused expression photo, which rapidly spread and became a meme called “Doge,” to the non-fungible token (NFT) sales recorded on various cryptocurrency marketplaces, Dogecoin has truly established itself as a one-of-a-kind cryptocurrency.
Leaders John Monarch and Tridog of the “Own the Doge” project said that a deal with Sato has been reached to acquire the rights of the title for their project. This resolution shall resolve the copyright issues and create a pathway for co-operations with prominent brands.
The developers won’t restrict people from creating Doge memes or spreading a community spirit because they want to bring the developers and the users under a single umbrella.
