The number of attendees who persisted shocked community leders who attended the event, despite the challenges faced by members of the cryptocurrency community who took a plane to the United Arab Emirates to attend Token2049.
Even though members of the cryptocurrency community had to fly to the United Arab Emirates to attend Token2049, the number of attendees who stuck with it surprised community leaders who were present.
Leaders in the space who were due to speak with Cointelegraph were stranded in several airports and were forced to return due to the circumstances.
The storm prevented the plane from landing, so Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino was forced to wait an additional two hours in the air. “It was fortunate for me to have only two more hours in the sky,” Ardoino remarked.
Nonetheless, Ardoino expressed gratitude for the kind of individuals in the crypto world after observing the sheer number of attendees. He declared, “It’s a good sign that this industry is made by people who are willing always to gather, to discuss and keep pushing the industry forward. I’m grateful to see many people around.”
Emin Gün Sirer, the founder of Ava Labs, also talked about the difficulties his team had traveling to the event. He claimed, “It was very difficult to come here. We were landing in the middle of the biggest storm ever. We spent five hours on what should’ve been a 20-minute landing.”
Despite this, Sirer thinks that coming was worthwhile and the right decision. He declared, “We ended up going through a lot of water. My luggage and clothes were wet, but it was so worth it because the energy I see in the room right now is amazing.”
Nearly all of the attendees dealt with personal struggles. Nevertheless, all of the tickets were sold out by the middle of the first day, therefore the Token2049 team stopped taking new registrations.
Members of the crypto community participated in the range of activities offered at the gathering. This included networking, project booths, and a variety of highly informative speakers. In the end, the crypto community proved resilient in the face of a record storm that made it challenging to attend the gathering.
