The Manchester City Football Club (MCFC) has partnered with Quidd, a digital collectible platform, for the first time in the Premier League. Quidd, created in 2016, is where fans can search for, trade, and collect authenticated digital collectibles from licensed companies.
Fans can earn digital cards featuring player images, and by collecting them, they can unlock various rewards like merchandise, tickets, or even a training session with the team.
The major goal of this three-year partnership is to emotionally connect fans by introducing a new platform that helps them stay connected to their favorite teams and the sport they love.
“We’re excited to help transform the traditional football pastime of cards and collectibles into a new digital age alongside Quidd, enabling us to further connect with our fans across the globe. We look forward to working together on creating new digital experiences and games for our fans to enjoy,” said Tom Boyle, VP of City Football Group.
This is not MCFC’s first foray into NFTs. The club has been active and has previously collaborated with multiple firms. Back in 2022, Man City collaborated with Sony to build a virtual version of the Etihad Stadium. Most recently, the club launched their “Unseen City Shirts” collection.
Additionally, Quidd’s CEO Michael Bramlage expressed his excitement about the new collaboration, stating, “We’re delighted to be cooperating with Manchester City. This partnership will strengthen our grassroots sports initiative.”
