Apple plans major updates to the Safari browser in the upcoming iOS 18 and macOS 15 updates. These updates will feature AI-driven tools to improve the user experience. Key updates include the introduction of “Intelligent Search” and a “Web Eraser” function, along with a system-wide visual lookup feature.
According to Apple Insider report, “Intelligent Search” will utilize Apple’s language-learning AI model, Ajax, to summarize web page content in easily digestible forms, such as topic headlines and brief paragraphs. This feature aims to streamline information retrieval and enhance user readability.
This feature won’t be enabled automatically, users will have to manually enable it. After, enabling the feature, the tool will leverage Apple’s on-device AI technology to identify topics and key phrases within a webpage.
The “Web Eraser” tool, another AI-powered addition, offers users the capability to selectively block and remove content from web pages, including advertisements, images, and text. This tool is designed to remember user preferences across sessions, automatically applying previous settings upon revisiting a page, with an option to revert to the original view.
