Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter and a key figure in the creation of the decentralized social media platform Bluesky, has confirmed his departure from its board. This announcement followed a direct inquiry on the social platform X, where Dorsey responded “no” when asked if he remained on the board.
Bluesky acknowledged Dorsey’s departure and expressed gratitude for his contributions. It stated, “With Jack’s departure, we are searching for a new board member for the Bluesky public benefit company who shares our commitment to building a social network that puts people in control of their experience.”
Dorsey’s departure comes after he resumed activity on X over the past two weeks. He has unfollowed everyone except for three people: Musk, Snowden, and Stella Assange.
Dorsey launched Bluesky in 2019 and released it as an open-source project in February, aiming to create a decentralized Twitter alternative. Since its launch, Bluesky has launched its roadmap in October 2022 and competed with platforms like Meta’s Threads, especially after the upheaval at Twitter following Musk’s takeover.
