The General Manager of Binance in Kazakhstan, Zhaslan Madiyev, has been appointed Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry in the country.
The announcement of Zhaslan Madiyev was made on Monday by a decree issued by the Kazakhstan Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov on Monday evening.
“Olzhas Bektenov outlined the important tasks facing the new Minister. Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry is tasked to ensure widespread use of artificial intelligence technologies, to continue work on creating a favourable environment for nurturing successful startups in order to increase exports of IT services, as well as to strengthen measures to ensure information security,” read a release from the official website of PM Kazakhstan.
The same was also announced by Binance’s CEO, Richard Teng, on social media platform X.
Teng expressed confidence in Madiyev’s abilities to drive digital development initiatives in Kazakhstan, a crucial step for Binance amidst recent legal challenges. Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao’s legal troubles resulted in a $4.3 billion fine and leadership change.
Madiyev’s appointment could lead to clearer crypto regulations in Kazakhstan, benefiting Binance and fostering a crypto-friendly environment after previous exchanges were blocked for law violations.
The move aligns with Kazakhstan’s push for crypto expansion, highlighted by introducing the ‘digital tenge’ in November. This currency innovation aims to enhance transactions and integrate with major payment platforms, fostering global accessibility.
Madiyev’s role as Minister may stimulate economic growth through crypto innovation, job creation, and investment attraction, solidifying Kazakhstan’s position in the crypto landscape.
Madiyev’s appointment signals a new chapter for Binance in Kazakhstan, potentially shaping the country’s crypto landscape and fostering economic growth.
