Donald Trump, the U S presidential candidate, paused his New York trial to host a dinner for supporters at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
This Wednesday night’s event is intended for those who bought a lot of his “Mugshot Edition” NFT figures. These NFTs depict his 2023 arrest for allegedly attempting to interfere with the 2020 election results.
According to news outlet Axios, to secure an invitation, attendees of the dinner had to acquire more than 47 NFTs, priced at $99 each. An additional “VIP” cocktail reception before the dinner was reserved for those who bought at least 100 NFTs, totaling nearly $10,000. These major buyers will also receive physical cards containing pieces of the suit and tie Trump wore during his arrest.
Trump called the trial a “hoax” and said he would rather be campaigning in swing states. He is charged with falsifying business records linked to payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
The dinner event underscores Trump’s continued efforts to leverage his name and likeness commercially during the legal proceedings.
