The Stellar network has managed to upgrade its testnet to Protocol 21. This upgrade brings along with it several new features, such as the one for passkey signing and the improvements in the state archival.
The upgrade occurred after the successful launch of Soroban, Stellar’s smart contract platform, in February 2024. Protocol 21 is the next stage in Stellar’s development to a more feature-rich platform.
On May 30th, Stellar will be able to release the stable versions of its core software and reset the testnet on June 11th to make sure everything is working properly. At last, on June 18th, the validators on the Stellar network will decide if they will put Protocol 21 on the mainnet for implementation.
Stellar (XLM ) price is likely to surge due to the upgrade. XLM would be key in the development of Decentralized Finance (DeFi) on Stellar. The long-term price impact is still unknown, but the growth is a fact.
As per the writing time, XLM price is at $0.1027, with a 1.7% price drop following the 24 hour chat.
