Coinbase’s Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad shared a post on X today that former Florida Congressman Kendrick Meek has joined the crypto exchange’s Global Advisory Council. The council was established back in May 2023 to address the complexity and developments in the crypto industry.
Meek has joined other notable former lawmakers like Tim Ryan, Stephanie Murphy, and Pat Toomey. Although the exchange has proven trustworthy by many to the level of serving around 52 million Americans, it is currently facing a lawsuit from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Coinbase is also involved in the 2024 elections with the Stand with Crypto movement, which aims to support crypto-friendly politicians and their agendas. Kendrick Meek’s addition to Coinbase’s Global Advisory Council is positive, as the company is interested in increased regulation of the crypto industry.
