Coinbase, in collaboration with Match Group, Meta, Kraken, Ripple, Gemini, and the Global Anti-Scam Organization (GASO), has launched the Tech Against Scams coalition. The main focus of this strategy is to reduce the incidences of fraud and scams, which affect the consumption of technology-based products and services.
Launched in June 2021, Tech Against Scams is a global non-profit that collaborates with leading tech companies to fight against scams seeping through social media, finance, dating apps, or any other digital connection.
The formation of this coalition was officially announced by Coinbase’s Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad who underlined that the crucial role of the organization is to act together to make the digital environment safer.
In this case, the actions undertaken by the coalition will be to educate the preventative measures to make cyberspace safer. They use fake identities and contact details to latch on unsuspecting users and con them out of their hard-earned cash, it is estimated that scammers defraud users more than a billion annually.
