The former FTX CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried, is detained at the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City at the moment as reported by the Federal Bureau of Prisons today.
This comes despite a plea by Judge Lewis Kaplan that Bankman-Fried be allowed to stay in New York to help him with his appeal case.Â
It remains still unknown how long Bankman-Fried will stay in Oklahoma, as the Bureau of Prisons has not provided the information. It is widely believed that he might be transferred to the Federal Correctional Institution in Mendota, California which would bring him nearer to his parents’ home.
Other FTX executives agreed to plead guilty to the charges linked to the failure of the cryptocurrency firm. Unlike the former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, who was charged with fraud but denied the allegations and was charged, these executives have pleaded guilty to the charges and are assisting the authorities in the ongoing investigations and trials.
Concerning the agreed cooperation with other regulators, they could help bring out relevant information that could be used to compile charges against other participants of the FTX scandal.
