After having Craig Wright’s claims of being Satoshi Nakamoto thrown out by a UK court last week, Cøbra, the anonymous team behind Bitcoin.org, triumphantly re-uploaded the first-ever Bitcoin whitepaper.
Overall, this is a big win for crypto enthusiasts as the main content in which Bitcoin was birthed has now been restored to its original location on Bitcoin.org after a lengthy legal battle.
In 2021, the white paper was taken down temporarily following Wright’s lawsuit against Cobra over copyright infringement and won by default when he decided not to appear at all given that he wanted to protect his identity.
However, a British High Court judge recently ruled that Wright had provided no support for his claim to be the original creator of Bitcoin; he called his evidence “technobabble” and, therefore, untrustworthy. With the loss of Wright’s copyright argument, nothing was preventing Cobra from restoring access to the seminal work within its field.
Bitcoin.org’s Hennadii Stepanov heralded its return by sharing a PDF link on X. It symbolizes a huge symbolic win for everyone who understands that this paper is information that belongs to the entire Bitcoin ecosystem.
