Ledger, a prominent French company celebrating its secure cryptocurrency hardware wallets, has started shipping its new Ledger Stax to pre-order customers after 18 months of delay. Pascal said that the new orders will be globally available in the summer of 2024.
Pascal Gauthier, Chairman & CEO of Ledger, expressed his excitement on his X account, stating, “I am excited to announce that the shipping of our secure-touchscreen device, Ledger Stax, has begun for pre-order customers.”
Developed with iPod creator Tony Fadell, this advanced wallet features a curved E-Ink display for improved visibility and energy efficiency.
The Ledger Stax introduces several advancements over previous models, such as the Nano S Plus and Nano X. It features a larger touchscreen that directly interacts with the device’s secure element, making it easier to use. Additionally, unlike the Nano S Plus, which requires a USB-C connection, both the Nano X and Stax include Bluetooth technology, allowing users to perform wireless crypto transactions.
Priced at approximately €279 during the pre-order phase, the Stax targets the higher end of the market. The device’s unique curved screen also displays information on its spine, which is useful for identifying multiple units and supports Qi wireless charging. Built-in magnets facilitate easy stacking and alignment of multiple devices.
Ledger ensures security across all its products by storing private keys within a secure element, safeguarding them even if external devices are compromised. The company also offers a subscription service for users who prefer to rely on something other than recovery phrases for device restoration.
Overall, the Ledger Stax marks a significant evolution in Ledger’s product line, promising enhanced usability and security for cryptocurrency enthusiasts.
