Social media platform X has taken decisive action by suspending the account of Sahil Arora, known for promoting celebrity-endorsed memecoins. Arora, who operated under the handle “@Habibi_Comm,” is facing serious allegations of scams and manipulative practices, including the use of forged communications with celebrities to boost various digital currencies.
Celebrity Backlash and Denials
Several celebrities, including Australian musician Iggy Azalea, Caitlyn Jenner, and American rapper Rich the Kid, have distanced themselves from Arora, denying any association with the promoter’s memecoin projects.
Despite these controversies, Arora remains undeterred, reportedly initiating new memecoin ventures even after the suspension of his account. Additionally, a recent promotional attempt by Arora involved a partnership claim with BingX, a claim that was promptly refuted by the cryptocurrency exchange.
This ongoing saga has further complicated the landscape for celebrity-endorsed digital currencies. It has also sparked a broader discourse on the responsibilities of social media platforms in curbing financial misinformation.
A Continued Pattern of Deception
Moreover, Arora has been accused of misrepresenting his association with other celebrities to launch new memecoins. Notably, hip-hop artist Offset has also leveled accusations of fraud against Arora, highlighting a problematic pattern in Arora’s operations.
These accusations gained substance following revelations about a transaction involving $20,000 intended for Offset, which he reportedly never received.
Social media platform X’s suspension of Arora’s account marks a step in tackling the spread of fraudulent schemes that prey on the credibility of public figures. The platform’s firm stance serves as a warning to others engaging in similar deceptive practices online.
