In a startling event, three armed men stole approximately 1,112 ETH from Ram, an Indian hacker who made investments in Ethereum on June 17.
As per the post of Ram, known as @hiddentao on X, three people forcibly accessed his crypto ledger and transferred all his digital assets. This was possible because the assailants knew about Ram’s cryptocurrency holdings and his residential address.
However, he has deleted the tweet and said, “I have been advised to remove my original post whilst an investigation is ongoing.”
Ram, who lived in London, said three people had machetes, but Ram was fortunately not hurt physically. Still, the experience has left him very shaken. Ram has also noted the transaction details from his two distinct wallets, where he followed the robbers’ orders to complete the transaction.
From the wallet “0x5292..” to the wallet “0x8C65..”, the first transaction of roughly 1,098 Ethereum, valued at $3.8 million, has been made. The second Ethereum transaction, valued at approximately 13.45 ETH ($47,000,241), was made from the wallet “0x0d24f..” to the wallet “0xE925.”
On June 17, around 12 PM +UTC, he lost 1,112 ETH, which is currently valued at $3.8 million, from two different wallets. Both wallets, into which the seized ETH was transferred, did not make any further transactions.
He even urged Binance, Kraken and crypto sleuth ZachXBT to help him crack down the robbers.
This alarming event highlights the vulnerabilities faced by crypto investors and the need for heightened security measures. The incident is a stark reminder of the real-world risks associated with digital asset ownership.
