Martin Shkreli, aka “Pharma Bro,” has said that with the approval of Donald Trump, his 18-year-old son, Barron Trump, has launched the DJT token and he has the private key to its smart contract address.
In X post, Shkreli, who faced over six years in prison for securities fraud, said, “I taught someone how to make a contact, and they pushed the button, not me. Keys are with Trump, not me.”
Shkreli, who faced over six years in prison for securities fraud, asserts that Barron approached him in April for assistance in creating the Solana-based token, DJT. According to Birdseye data, the token has now reached a market value of $146 million.
Shkreli stated that his only involvement in an X Spaces session hosted by Mario Nawfal was to advise Barron Trump, whom he referred to as a friend.
According to Shkreli, around ten individuals were involved in the launch of the DJT token. He also mentioned that Barron Trump had been in discussions with the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken about potentially listing the token, though Kraken has not provided a comment on the matter.
Shkreli, in a conversation with Mario, asserted that Barron Trump had informed him that Donald Trump was aware of and approved the DJT token. Shkreli claimed they communicated extensively, with Barron sharing his father’s involvement through messages and calls.
Shkreli mentioned having screenshots from Barron’s Instagram account as evidence. He noted that Donald Trump could easily deny involvement if the project faced issues, but Barron consistently told him that his father was supportive and liked the idea.
A teenager with fewer than 500 X followers who were purportedly involved with Shkreli was introduced as the “Mongolian Prince” in an attempt by Shkreli to support his claims.
In a seven-hour X Spaces discussion, the Mongolian Prince also confirmed that Barron Trump created the DJT token and holds the private keys. He also stated that Barron deployed the contract. He added, “Barron wanted to do something special, something significant, and we all wanted to help him with that.”
Mongolian Prince also claimed Barron showed his Solana-based Phantom wallet to Donald Trump before the token’s launch, to which Trump reportedly responded with laughter.
Kim Dotcom, a speaker from X, asked Martin Shkreli if he had sold any of the DJT tokens since purchasing them. Shkreli declined to provide a direct answer, stating, “I’m not going to answer that. I bought such a small amount of tokens that it’s immaterial.”
